They used the name Lindsay. They're using her name as a parody of her life. Why didn't they use the name Susan? This is a subliminal message. • Conan O'Brien's former sidekick Andy Richter is blasting NBC and Jay Leno for how the Tonight show hand-off went down. Filling in for Regis Philbin on Live! Tuesday (March 9th) morning, he told Kelly Ripa at the start of the show, "I actually can be on TV. Conan can't -- in fact, I'm not even sure I can say his name. I may be getting him in trouble for even saying his name."

Since Richter broached the subject, Kelly delved into the late night mess: "(Kelly) Do you have any ill feelings toward NBC and Jay? Not that you're going to be honest, but go for it. (Andy) Yes! (Laughter) Yes I do. (Applause) Why wouldn't I, why wouldn't I, I mean my God I'd be like, I'd be like some sort of self hater."

He explained: "Now, I mean NBC definitely, uh, everybody said they were going to do something and then they didn't (right.) Ya know, they all said years ago "We're gonna do something" and then they didn't and there was all kinds of talk about our ratings not being very good, but they were pretty good all summer (sure.) And then our lead-in changed (right) and they didn't, they weren't so good anymore. Kelly: It's very hard, I would think, to have a lead-in for a nighttime talk show that is a nighttime talk show. Andy: Yes, it was very difficult."

Andy also said that he's frustrated that it looks as though Conan walked out of NBC with a great deal and tons of money. He said, "It's not like that at all. In fact, Conan is putting a lot of his own money out there. He formed a little corporation just to pay people to keep them, because all these people moved from New York to California to work on this show."

As for rumors that he and Conan will tour together this year, Andy commented, "I can't say. Yes, it's a possibility. It's a distinct possibility. It would be fun. It would get me out of the house. My entire family would love that."

  • Three former Michael Jackson bodyguards, who spent the last two years of the singer's life guarding him and his children, appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday (March 9th) to share their impressions of the King Of Pop. Mike Garcia, Javon Beard, and Bill Whitfield agreed that the Jackson they knew was a loving father of three smart, polite children, and an avid reader who longed to do such simple things as shop at a Wal-Mart or order a beer at a bar without being mobbed. They described a lonely man whose existence was often full of "stress, paranoia and pain." When asked if they believed Jackson was a pedophile, all three men emphatically said "no."

Whitfield replied, "Being a man -- men know men -- and we were around him long enough to know . . . h e was a man." Garcia added that Jackson had "desires of women like we do. He had lovers."

They noted that while they were initially hired as security, they quickly became more than that. "We were with Michael Jackson the person, not the entertainer," Garcia said.

The three say they are planning to publish a book about their experiences with Jackson, saying that it will put to rest many rumors about the man who may have been "different, not weird."

Part Two of their interview with GMA reporter Ashleigh Banfield airs this morning (Wednesday, March 10th).

The marriage ended after eight years.

SIMON AND MEZHGAN MAKE TELEVISION DEBUT

Meanwhile, Hussainy made her first late night appearance earlier this week, gracing the stage with Simon on the Tonight Show. Cowell, who had never confirmed the engagement rumors, responded to Jay Leno's questions about his relationship status by saying, "Well, I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes. And I kinda made a decision this year to make somebody happy."

Hussainy was eventually introduced from the audience and joined Leno and Cowell on the stage, where her and Simon kissed to a chorus of cheers.

In other Simon news, the New York Post claims his long-time ex-girlfriend, Terri Seymour, refused to walk the red carpet at Elton John's Oscar-viewing party out of fear that she'd bump into him with Hussainy.

  • Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe isn't shy about expressing herself. The Precious star -- who previously said she would have loved to have Justin Timberlake as her Oscar date -- reportedly had some spicy commentary for 300 and The Ugly Truth star Gerard Butler at an Oscar after party on Sunday.

According to sources, after passing Butler -- who is reportedly dating Jennifer Anniston -- Gabby told her friend "I'd hit that." But, according to Bossip.com, she said she was afraid she didn't make a good first impression because she'd stepped on Butler's foot during their first introduction. But the Scottish star reportedly heard Gabby's comment and joked back, "I'm here, I'm available." The two apparently shared some conversation after that during the party.

In other news, while Sidibe, 26, didn't take home best actress honors for her work in Precious last Sunday, she did earn Hollywood's interest. Gabby has also been cast in the film Yelling To The Sky, co-starring Tim Blake Nelson, but no release date has been set.
